When compared to rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis has generally been perceived as having a less severe course; however, a new study by Chua and colleagues1 from Rush Medical Center in Chicago is the first to show in direct comparison that the patient perception of disease burden is similar between the two and possibly even worse in osteoarthritis.
